 WHO ARE WE?

We Remember is a 2024-2025 Marjory Stoneman Douglas DECA Community Awareness Chapter Project that aims to spread awareness about hate, including the Holocaust. For information about our Founders and Advisors, please click HERE.

 problem statement

For hundreds and thousands of years, hatred has been a global issue, and affecting people of all backgrounds, races, and beliefs. It has started conflicts, divided societies, and led to some of the darkest periods in history. One of the most devastating and tragic examples of hatred was the Holocaust, during which over six million Jews, along with millions of others people, were persecuted and murdered by the Nazis. This genocide, driven by extreme hatred, stands as a reminder of how prejudice can escalate into widespread violence and destruction.

Despite lessons taught about the horrors of the Holocaust, hate continues to manifest in various forms today. Racism, antisemitism, sexism, and hundreds of other forms of discrimination are still prevalent in our society today. The exponential rise of hate crimes demonstrate that this problem is still occurring. These acts of hate not only harm individuals, but also break up communities, create fear, and start violence.

 OUR PURPOSE

We Remember seeks to address the ongoing issue by raising awareness about hate, using the Holocaust as an example. Through guest speakers, educational lessons, strategic campaigns, and more, we strive to make people in the Parkland and Coral Springs community more aware of hate and ways to mitigate it. By sharing stories of historical tragedies like the Holocaust and connecting it to issues that occur today, we aim to encourage individuals to stand up against hate as this can foster a more inclusive and compassionate community within society.

 OPEN TO ALL
